Established in 1963, the International Congress & Conference Association (abbreviated as ICCA) is a global meetings industry network with 1,000 members from over 90 countries all over the world.

In 2017, after outshining numerous famous convention cities, Kaohsiung won the right to host the 2020 ICCA. Centralized around the theme of “Transformation,” the congress welcomed the attendance of thousands of members who hailed from different countries worldwide. In consideration of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Kaohsiung City Government decided to hold the congress online and offline simultaneously as a “Hybrid Meeting.” Thanks to this approach, the event proceeded successfully against the challenges of the pandemic.

The organization of the iconic international congress brought together talents from various global harbor cities, thus accelerating Kaohsiung’s transformation, development, and improvement process. The Kaohsiung City Mayor represented the event organizers in signing the “Kaohsiung Protocol” with ICCA, successfully cementing the inclusion of Kaohsiung City into the history of global conventions.
